Graphite electrodes are artificially manufactured brittle materials with special requirements for storage and use. Therefore, the correct operating methods help ensure the normal use of the product.
Special tools should be used for hoisting graphite electrodes. It is prohibited to use pry bars during transportation to prevent collision damage during transportation.
Graphite electrodes should not be exposed to rain, snow, or water and should be kept dry. If moisture is found, it should be dried before use, with a temperature not exceeding 100 ℃ and a drying time of no less than 48 hours.
Do not stack them near clay, slag, and other debris to avoid contaminating the surface of graphite electrodes.
Affects the conductivity effect. Before connecting the graphite electrode, please carefully check whether the electrode connector is intact, whether the threads of the connector are damaged, whether the bolts of the connector are lost, and whether the threads of the grounding terminal electrode connector are correct when lifting the electrode. Damage should be prevented.
Dust and debris in the joints and joint holes should be blown clean with compressed air.
Graphite electrodes should be tightly connected, and tilting is not allowed during connection. A torque plate should be used by hand to prevent excessive or insufficient force, and the gap should not exceed 0.4mm.
The electrode clamp should be clamped tightly, not loose and in good contact, and should not produce an arc. Otherwise, the connection will turn red and rapidly oxidize and disconnect.
If metal lifting plugs are used to lift the electrodes, the threads in the connector holes must not be damaged. After lifting, the lifting bolts should be loosened to prevent dust and debris from falling into the joint holes.
The electrode lifting device of the electric furnace should remain stable during operation. After repairing the furnace cover, check if the position of the cover is correct. During the smelting process, use refractory materials to seal the lid of the electric furnace to prevent the flames in the furnace from oxidizing the upper electrodes.
The fixator should be clamped outside the safety wire in the electrode joint hole area.
When allocating the melt pool, large blocks are at the bottom and small blocks are at the top. Do not place charges with poor conductivity on top. During the melting process, unmelted materials should be promptly handled to prevent collapsed materials from hitting the electrodes.
